Bristol City vs Leicester City predictions

Leicester City have been in the news of late. Last week, the club was charged by the Premier League for allegedly breaching its profit and sustainability rules during their last spell in the top tier of the English game.

If they are found guilty, the Foxes could be deducted points when they are next in the Premier League. The club stated they were “surprised” and “extremely disappointed” by the development.

It remains to be seen whether the off-field charge disrupts Leicester’s on-field attempts to secure a place back in the top division.

But even before this recent news, Enzo Maresca’s men were wobbling. A run of three straight defeats by Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers opened the door to Leicester’s promotion rivals.

They subsequently beat Sunderland and drew with Hull City, but Leicester’s position is more precarious than it was a few weeks back.

Indeed, the Foxes have been knocked off top spot by Leeds. In addition, they are now only one point clear of Ipswich Town in third place.

Leicester do have a game in hand on both of those sides, but their confidence must have been rocked by a run of one win in six matches (including a 4-2 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup).

The international break came at a good time for the team that remain favourites to win the Championship title. Maresca and his squad have had the chance to regroup and two wins over the Easter weekend would lift the mood at the King Power Stadium.

On the flip side, a couple of adverse results would likely see Leicester drop out of the top two for the first time since early September.

With the business end of the season upon us, the stakes are high.

Lazio vs Juventus betting tips

Leicester City should get the better of an out-of-form Bristol City team when they lock horns at Ashton Gate.

Leicester to win - 4/1 (bet365)

We could be in store for a dramatic relegation battle in the Championship, with only five points separating Millwall in 15th from Sheffield Wednesday in 23rd.

Last-placed Rotherham United are dead and buried, but it is hard to predict which two other sides will be joining them in League One next season.

Even Bristol City all the way up in 14th place are not completely safe yet, although an eight-point buffer above the bottom three should be enough given the sheer number of teams between them and the relegation zone.

The Robins have lost five of their last six matches, in effect ending their slim chances of securing a play-off berth.

Liam Manning will be looking for a vast improvement from his team over the Easter weekend, which sees Bristol City face Leicester and Plymouth Argyle.

However, the Foxes should prove too strong for their hosts on Friday. Leicester were beginning to look fatigued before the international break, but their minds and bodies have now been refreshed. An away win looks likely.

Leicester to score in both halves - 17/10 (BetUK)

Despite their broadly successful season to date, some Leicester fans are not enamoured with the style of play Maresca has served up.

The critics argue that the manager, who previously worked with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, is overly concerned with possession for its own sake.

There have been grumblings throughout the season at the King Power Stadium. That, together with visiting teams’ propensity to sit deep and spoil, means Leicester have only the fifth-best home record in the division.

They tend to be much more effective on the road. Leicester have amassed 42 points at opposition stadiums, seven more than the next-best Ipswich and Southampton.

Their 19 away games have produced 39 goals, an average of more than two per match. Middlesbrough are the next-highest away scorers with 33.

Bristol City have conceded in 12 of their last 13 games, which evidences their defensive struggles. Leicester can take advantage at Ashton Gate.

Jamie Vardy to score any time - 13/8 (Sky Bet)

Jamie Vardy could be into the final two months of his Leicester career. The club legend is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will stick around for one more year.

The 37-year-old is clearly past the peak of his powers, but he still has plenty to offer - as he has shown this season.

Vardy has only started 12 Championship matches, with 14 of his appearances coming off the bench. Yet he has still put the ball in the back of the net on 13 occasions, making him Leicester’s leading goal-getter.

Vardy may not start on Friday. Given his age, Maresca has to manage his minutes. But despite missing the Chelsea game through injury, the striker is expected to be fit enough to make the bench at least. Once he gets on the pitch, Vardy will cause Bristol City problems.
