Anthony Gordon has said that he'd love to have 'bizarre' Donald Trump at his fantasy three-person dinner party.

The Newcastle United star was the latest guest on The Overlap with Gary Neville in which he discussed much about his career, including his controversial Everton exit, his England introduction and his love of meditation.

But in a light-hearted segment of the interview, Neville quizzed the player with some quickfire questions - one of which is a popular conversation-starter.

Asked who he would invite to his fantasy dinner, Gordon said: "I love this question you know, and I've always got answers, but now I'm on the spot!

"I'd go (Diego) Maradona, I would go Donald Trump, I'd love to meet him and see how he is – like he's so bizarre as a person, and I just want to sit down with him.

"And Ricky Gervais. Ricky Gervais is a big one, I don't know why I haven't put him first, I absolutely love him, he's so funny."

A dinner party featuring Maradona, Trump and Gervais would certainly have spectators on the edge of their seats, much like the performances of Gordon this term.

The 23-year-old has scored 11 goals and contributed nine assists in all competitions for Newcastle this term, his best campaign as a Premier League player so far.

Having impressed in his first England caps last month, Gordon will now be hoping to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

The Magpies face Crystal Palace on Wednesday and are sixth in the Premier League.

However, they are 10 points behind Spurs and a return to the Champions League looks unlikely.
