Erik ten Hag remains committed to Manchester United despite interest from Bayern Munich, talkSPORT understands.

Bayern have identified the under-pressure ten Hag as a potential candidate to take over Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

However, ten Hag believes he will still be in charge at Old Trafford despite being given no public assurances over his future by new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Dutchman is reluctant to hold formal talks with Bayern until his position at Old Trafford is clarified.

The injury-hit Red Devils have slipped to eighth place in the Premier League table ahead of Monday's clash at Crystal Palace, live on talkSPORT.

Ten Hag joined Man United from Dutch club Ajax in the summer of 2022 with his tenure with the 13-time Premier League winners seeing plenty of highs and lows.

His first season was a qualified success having got the club back into the Champions League, while also winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final.

However, this term has presented plenty of challenges with Man United finishing bottom of their Champions League group and having their Carabao Cup defence ended with a 3-0 defeat at home to Newcastle.

And their league form has been a huge cause for concern with Man United currently eighth in the Premier League and unable to finish in the top four.

Failing to get European football at all is a risk with Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham all in a better position to obtain Europa or Conference League football ahead of them.

As well as sketchy form on the pitch there have been bad headlines off it with Ten Hag having a high-profile falling out with £73million signing Jadon Sancho, who is doing a fine job of rebuilding his career on loan at former club Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, there's been no suggestion in public from minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe that Ten Hag will be the manager next season.

The man who Ten Hag could be replacing in Tuchel has been linked with his current job.

Tuchel has experience in the Premier League having been in charge of Chelsea for 19 months between January 2021 - September 2022, a period which saw the Blues win the Champions League.
